SACRAMENTO, Calif- The Sonoma State women's tennis team defeated Cal State San Bernardino 6-1 Saturday afternoon for their fifth consecutive win and eighth in their last nine matches.
The win vaulted Sonoma State (8-8 overall) to 8-4 against NCAA Division II competition and solidified its post-season resume. The Seawolves finished California Collegiate Athletic Association play with a 6-4 record, good for a third place finish.
Freshman
Amy Belsher ran her winning streak to 15 matches with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles. She is now 11-4 on the season in singles.
Sonoma State won five singles matches, the loss coming at No. 1. The team of
Stephanie Luk and
Laura Robertson won the only doubles match played, an 8-4 win at No. 1. Robertson led the Seawolves with two wins on the day. She won also won at No. 3 singles 6-4, 6-3.
Sonoma State is back in action on Wednesday, April 18, when it plays host to NCAA Div. I San Jose State at 2:00 pm.
