ROHNERT PARK, Calif- The Sonoma State women's tennis team made it four in a row with a 5-4 victory over a surging Cal Poly Pomona squad on Friday afternoon in Rohnert Park. The Seawolves improve to 7-8, 5-4 CCAA with their seventh win in their last eight matches. They also bump up to 7-4 in NCAA Division II competition.
The Seawolves picked up their second win over the Broncos in a week, but Cal Poly Pomona was coming off a big win over No. 26 Cal State L.A. on Tuesday.
Sonoma State got the day off to a solid start by taking two of the three doubles matches. SSU's No. 2 team of
Alexis Webb and
Raquel Gottfried rolled 8-0, but
Amy Belsher and
Casey O'Connor needed to fight off several match points to emerge with a 9-8 win.
Despite dropping the top three singles matches, the Seawolves showed their depth with a clean sweep at Nos. 4, 5, and 6.
Amy Belsher picked up another win at No. 4, extending her personal winning streak to 14 matches in a row. Webb and O'Connor were also victorious at No. 5 and No. 6 respectively.
The Seawolves will host Cal State San Bernardino in the next match on April 14th.
