SEATTLE, Wash-  Seattle Pacific's Shannon Oakes scored in the 65th minute as the tenth-ranked Falcons defeated Sonoma State 1-0 in west region women's soccer action in Seattle on Thursday night.  The loss drops the Seawolves to 1-2-0 on the season while the Falcons improve to 3-0-0.

The Seawolves, battling a nationally-ranked opponent from Seattle for the second game in a row, held their own with the Falcons.  SSU was out shot just 11-7 and held the Falcons out of the net for the first half.  Freshman Courtney Grixti made two of her four saves in the first.

SPU broke through in the 65th minute when Oakes nailed in a 10-yarder to the right post after a long throw in and flick.  Sarah Martinez and Amanda Johnson were credited with assists on the goal.

The Seawolves continue their Pacific Northwest road trip on Saturday at Western Washington.
