Eric Lafon and
Nathan Medina each scored on Sunday as Sonoma State stayed perfect in CCAA play with a 2-0 blanking of Cal State Monterey Bay in Seaside. The 24th-ranked Seawolves improve to 6-2-1, 5-0-0 CCAA on the season. The Otters drop to 2-2-2, 2-2-2 CCAA.
It was the end of a very successful weekend for both Lafon and Medina. Lafon had two assists on Friday to go along with a goal and an assist today. Medina, who scored twice on Friday, scored his third goal of the weekend and his fifth of the year.
The Seawolves had their way with the Otter defense, peppering goalkeeper Brendan Baca with 25 shots. However, it wouldn't be until the 78th minute that one of those shots found its way into the goal. Lafon got the game's first score off a free kick at the 77:16 mark.
Medina made it 2-0 just six minutes later when he scored off a corner kick. The assist was credited to Lafon, giving him a team-high four this season.
Brook Johnson had two saves to record his fourth shutout of the year.
The Seawolves will play Cal State San Bernardino and Cal Poly Pomona next weekend, on the road.
