POMONA, Calif- The Sonoma State women's soccer team ran their shutout streak to six games in a row with a 1-0 win over Cal Poly Pomona on Friday afternoon.
Lindsay Catton scored the game's only goal as the Seawolves improve to 6-3-1, 2-3-1 CCAA. The Broncos fall to 6-4-0, 3-4-0 CCAA.
Earlier this week, the Seawolves learned that they would not be losing their overall record to a non-certification issue that resulted in the forfeiture of three CCAA games. SSU is still thick in the hunt for a NCAA regional berth.
The Seawolves have not allowed a goal in conference play, a span of nearly 600 minutes. They have allowed just seven goals in ten games this year and four of those came in one game.
The Seawolves have employed a bend, but don't break defense and that was never more evident than on Friday night as Cal Poly Pomona held a 25-6 shot advantage. Freshman
Courtney Grixti, the league leader with seven shutouts, made eight saves to preserve the win.
Sophomore
Lindsay Catton scored the game's only goal in the 55th minute off a free kick.
Sonoma State will try to keep the streak alive on Sunday at Cal State San Bernardino.
Box Score will be posted later.
