ROHNERT PARK, Calif-
Danae Wellander led all scorers with 17 points as Sonoma State turned away San Francisco State, 59-47 on Friday evening in CCAA women's basketball action in Rohnert Park. The Seawolves complete a season sweep of the Gators as they improve to 16-6, 10-5 CCAA. The Gators fall to 11-11, 8-7 CCAA.
The Gators started out strong, taking an 8-2 lead in the first four minutes. From there, the Seawolves outscored SF State 28-13 for the rest of the half to lead at the break, 30-21.
In the second half, the Gators got the lead down to three points at 38-35 with 10:47 left. SSU responded with a 7-0 run to build the lead to ten. They would not look back from there, pushing the lead to 12 in the final minute.
Wellander's 17 points came on 6-of-12 shooting from the field. She also had eight rebounds and three steals.
Genny Anderson also had a nice game, rounding out her night with 15 points, eight rebounds, and four steals.
SF State was led by 13 points from Armina Jusufagic and 11 points, 10 rebounds from Krystle Mays.
The Seawolves will host Cal State Monterey Bay on Saturday.
