ROHNERT PARK, Calif- Sonoma State used a dominating second half to pull away from Cal State Monterey Bay for a 67-40 win in CCAA women's hoops action on Saturday night in Rohnert Park. The win completes a season sweep of the Otters as the Seawolves go to 17-6, 11-5 CCAA. The Otters drop to 2-21, 1-15 CCAA.
Neither team could muster much offense in the early going. Though SSU's lead was wire to wire, CSUMB was within two at 12-10 with 8:00 remaining in the first. SSU used a 10-2 run over a long stretch to take an eight-point lead into the break.
SSU really turned it on in the second half, scoring the first ten points to open up an 18-point advantage in the first four minutes. The lead got as large as 31 in the final moments before a couple of CSUMB three-pointers pulled them to within 28.
Genny Anderson and
Chelsey Armacost each had 13 points to lead the Seawolves.
Lauren Redfield pitched in with 11 points and
Danae Wellander was good for seven assists.
Britnea Moore came off the bench to lead CSUMB with 11 points. Krista Herr took game-high honors with 12 rebounds.
SSU was aided by 29 CSUMB turnovers in the game. SSU committed 21 themselves.
The Seawolves hit the road next weekend to face Cal State Stanislaus and Chico State.
