SAN FRANCISCO, Calif- The Sonoma State baseball team continued their offensive onslaught on Monday with a 20-6 pasting of San Francisco State at Maloney Field in San Francisco. Freshmen
Cameron Cook and
Kyle Jones each homered as the Seawolves improve to 9-1 on the season. The Gators drop to 3-7.
It was the second time in less than two weeks that the Sewaolves have scored at least 20 runs against San Francisco State. SSU beat the Gators 22-0 on Feburary 8th and in three games this year, they've outscored the Gators 48-9.
This season, Sonoma State has scored 103 runs in their first ten games of the year, an average of over ten runs per game.
Leading 1-0 after two innings, SSU crossed the plate seven times in the third and seven more times in the fourth to take a 15-0 lead. They tacked on one more run in the fifth and four more in the sixth.
A pair of freshmen led the charge as
Cameron Cook was 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs and
Kyle Jones had three hits and a home run.
Trevor Howell and
Robert Walden each had two hits as well.
Kevin Asselin pitched the first four innings before giving way to the bullpen. Kenny Cook pitched the fifth and sixth innings and was credited with his first victory of the season.
Sonoma State returns to action tomorrow when they face Cal State East Bay.
