ROHNERT PARK, Calif-
Matt Means extended his no-hit streak to 14 innings as he tossed seven more stingy frames in an utterly dominating performance against Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday afternoon at Seawolf Diamond. The 12th-ranked Seawolves won the game 10-0 to go to 14-1 overall and 3-0 in CCAA play. The Otters drop to 4-8, 2-3 CCAA.
The Seawolves are 10-0 at home this season and they've outscored their opponents 148-31.
Means, the reigning CCAA Pitcher of the Week, struck out five batters and, for the second consecutive outing, faced the minimum. One Otter reached on an error before Means induced an inning-ending double play.
Ian Bridges alone supplied more than enough offense for the Seawolves, going 3-for-5 with five runs batted in. In the process, Bridges raised his CCAA-best batting average to .533 (16-for-30).
Kris Haycock and
Trevor Howell also had two hits apiece.
The Seawolves and Otters will continue their four-game series on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at 11:00 am.
