Seawolves Get Revenge Against Lumberjacks

Genny Anderson had 16 points and eight rebounds on Wednesday
ARCATA, Calif-  Genny Anderson led four Seawolves in double figures with 16 points as Sonoma State defeated Humboldt State 69-58 on Wednesday evening in Arcata.  The Seawolves improve to 15-5, 9-4 CCAA with the win.  The Lumberjacks fall to 10-10, 6-7 CCAA.

The win was sweet revenge for the Seawolves as they were handed a 49-43 loss in their last meeting with the Jacks, in January at Seawolf Gym.

Humboldt got out to a 16-10 lead in the first seven minutes of the game before the Seawolves' offense found its rhythm.  SSU scored 12 straight points and then carried the momentum in to the break, leading by five at 36-31.

Sonoma State built the lead to as many as 16 points in the second half as they shot at a 64.3% clip (9-for-14).

Genny Anderson scored 16 points and had eight rebounds for the Seawolves.  Lauren Redfield was good for 15 points and SSU got 12 apiece from Danae Wellander and Chelsey Armacost.  Wellander took over the CCAA lead in assists with seven more on Wednesday night.

Paige Peterson paced the Lumberjacks with 14 points.  Sonoma County native Katie Franci, who torched the Seawolves for 20 points in the first game, was held to just six points on 2-of-9 shooting.

The Seawolves will now travel to the opposite end of the state to take on UC San Diego on Saturday.
