Seawolves Overcome Five Errors To Defeat Saints

Brittany Williams picked up her third win of the season on Saturday
RICHLAND, Wash-  Behind a solid pitching performance from Brittany Williams, the Sonoma State softball team held off Saint Martin's 5-2 on Saturday evening at the CWU Invitational in Richland, Washington.  The Seawolves even out their record at 8-8 on the season with one game left in the tournament.

SSU was able to overcome five errors in the game to pick up their second win of the day.  After the Saints went up 1-0 in the top of the fourth, SSU struck for a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 2-1 lead.  The Seawolves would tack on three more runs in the fifth thanks to four Saint errors.  Saint Martin's struck for one in the seventh, but that would be it as Williams and reliever Calli Herzog held on.

Williams tossed six and a third innings, allowing just one run and striking out two.  Brittany Simao was the only Seawolves with a multi-hit game.  She finished 2-for-3 with a double, a run, and an RBI.

The Seawolves conclude tournament play in the Evergreen State with a single game against Western Washington on Sunday.
