IRVINE, Calif- The Sonoma State men's tennis team dropped a 5-1 decision to Concordia University of California on Sunday afternoon in Irvine. The defeat leaves the Seawolves with a record of 7-6.
Concordia is the 17th-ranked NAIA team in the nation. Sonoma State is ranked 34th in the current NCAA Division II poll.
Sonoma State got one win in doubles play as
Jeff Stollberg and
Connor Olson were victorious at No. 2 doubles, 9-7. The duo improves to an impressive 10-2 on the season. SSU just lost out in a tight No. 3 doubles match as
Jeremy Heckley and
Logan Bailey lost 9-7.
Only four of the singles matches were completed due to Sonoma State's travel plans. Concordia captured the No. 1, No. 2, No. 4, and No. 6 matches to seal the victory.
The Seawolves return to action next week when they head out on their annual Hawaii trip.
