RICHLAND, Wash- The Sonoma State softball team closed out play at the CWU Invitational in Richland, Washington on Sunday with a 4-1 loss to Western Washington. The defeat leaves the Seawolves with an 8-9 overall record after going 3-4 at the tournament. The Vikings improve to 9-4.
SSU got on the board first when, in the first innings,
Shyrle Hawes led off with a single and came around to score. That would be the only run of the game for the Seawolves, though, as Jessica Rosencrants shut the door with a complete game five-hitter.
Western scored once in the third and three more times in the sixth against Seawolf starter
Simone Brandalise.
The Seawolves return to CCAA play next weekend at UC San Diego.
