Men's Tennis Just Short In Upset Attempt Of Aggies

Andy Muesse won twice for the Seawolves on Sunday at Davis
DAVIS, Calif-  The Sonoma State men's tennis team came within one match of defeating Division I UC Davis on Sunday afternoon in Davis, falling 4-3 in a barn-burner.  The Seawolves took the doubles point and got wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, but the bottom of the order carried the Aggies to victory.  Sonoma State falls to 4-5 on the year.

Four of SSU's five losses are to NCAA Division I opponents.

SSU got the doubles point with wins at No. 1 (McNulty/Muesse) and No. 2 (Olson/Stollberg).  They would have made it a clean sweep, but the No. 3 team of Logan Bailey and Jeremy Heckley was edged 8-7 (4).

In singles, Andy Muesse got a big win at No. 1, defeating Henri Landes 7-6, 7-6.  Connor Olson was also victorious, taking his No. 2 singles match over Michael Reiser, 6-3, 6-1.  Unfortunately that would be it as the Aggies took the three through six spots and, in effect, the team win.

The Seawolves will host Swarthmore College of Pennsylvania on Tuesday in Rohnert Park.
