With the victory and a loss by Cal State L.A. on Friday night, the Seawolves have jumped into first place in the CCAA standings at 8-2 by a half game over Cal State L.A. and Cal State San Bernardino (both 8-3). SSU has won six straight -- and eight of their last nine -- improving to 10-4 overall. The Warriors stumbled to just 1-13 (1-9 CCAA).
The Seawolf offense was nearly unstoppable, and the defense just as stifling. The hosts hit .321 as a team with 47 kills while holding the visiting Warriors to just 19 kills and a .077 efficiency.
Caylie Seitz added in eight kills; it was just the second time this season he was held to less than double-digit kills. Sonoma also recorded a season-high 13 service aces, four of which came out of the hands of Hull and three from
Calan Seitz.
Cal State Stanislaus was led by the five kills from both Blair Ehrlich and Lindsay Skadeland.
Sonoma State returns to the hardwood Saturday night when it plays host to Chico State. First serve is set for 7:00 pm.
