Hull Smashes Sonoma Past #15 Coyotes For 10th Straight Win

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- Kelsey Hull and Caylie Seitz combined for 34 kills and a .408 hitting percentage as the Sonoma State volleyball team earned its first three-game sweep over No. 15 Cal State San Bernardino since 1995 with Thursday's 3-0 triumph at Coussoulis Arena in San Bernardino.  The Seawolves (14-4, 12-2 CCAA) have won 10 straight matches and now holds the top spot in the CCAA standings by two games, ahead of the Coyotes and Humboldt State, both 13-5 overall and 10-4 in conference play, with eight matches left to play in the regular season.

In the opening set, CSU San Bernardino grabbed ahold of a 22-20 lead late, but Sonoma State rallied for five unanswered points to take the 1-0 match lead.  In the second set, the two squads found themselves tied at 16-all, but the Seawolves again recorded five straight points to take a 21-16 lead and eventually the 25-22 win to control the match at 2-0.  In the third frame, SSU led from start to finish to complete the improbable sweep of the nationally-ranked Coyotes on their home floor.

Hull continued to sizzle offensively, going for a match-high 19 kills with one error in 38 attacks (.474), adding 11 digs on defense, her eighth double-double of the season.  Seitz had 15 kills with four errors in 33 swings (.333).  Sonoma hit at a .289 clip while holding the potent CSU San Bernardino offense to just .215.  The Coyotes' Kaitlyn Christner and Alexandra Torline each scored 10 kills on the night.

Sonoma State will make the long trip to Arcata for Saturday's contest at Humboldt State, which is set for 7:00 pm at Lumberjack Arena.
