(Written by Craig Lifto, SSU Sports Information)ROHNERT PARK -- Mike Harris scored a team-high 22 points, including 13 in the first half, as the Sonoma State men's basketball opened up the 2014-15 season with a 74-66 victory over the visiting Seawolves of Alaska Anchorage on Friday night at the 14th Annual Ron Logsdon Basketball Classic at The Wolves' Den in Rohnert Park.  While SSU went to 1-0 to start the year, UAA remains in search of its first win, falling to 0-3.
The only lead Alaska Anchorage held was at 2-0.  Sonoma State answered with its first basket on a fastbreak by Harris at the 18:08 mark and SSU went on to open up a 35-17 lead with 6:40 left in the first half.  Alaska Anchorage closed the lead to 10 with 33 seconds left, but a three-pointer with four seconds left by 
Zen Maki sent Sonoma State to the locker room with a 41-28 lead.
Alaska Anchorage came out strong in the second half, outscoring Sonoma State 38-33, but that wasn't enough to make up for the big halftime advantage fort he Seawolves of Sonoma.  UAA did get to within five points with 3:10 remaining at 62-57, but a jumper by 
Jabri Jenkins and a three-pointer by Harris got the lead back to 10 with 2:17 remaining and the rest of the game was a formality.
Sonoma State shot 58 percent from the field on 25 of 43 attempts and an impressive 60 percent (9 of 15) on three-pointers.  Jenkins added 10 points for the SSU Seawolves on 3 of 7 shooting and 
Andy Mitchell contributed nine points.  
Brandon Glanz led Sonoma in rebounds with six and 
Khalid Johnson led the team with four assists.
Alaska Anchorage was led in points by Brian McGill who had 25 points while Travis Thompson added 21 points.
Sonoma State will close out the Ron Logsdon Basketball Classic on Saturday night against Pacific Union at 7:30 pm.
