(Written by Craig Lifto, SSU Sports Information)

SAN FRANCISCO -- Hannah Sourek scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Sonoma State women's basketball team to their first CCAA win of the season (1-2) over San Francisco State Friday night in San Francisco. The victory improves the Seawolves overall record to 2-4. San Francisco State fell to 0-3 in CCAA and 0-7 overall. An added bonus for the Seawolves earned their first conference victory on television with Comcast Hometown Network broadcasting the game.

The first half of the contest was tight, but the Seawolves came ready to play on television. With the game tied at 17 the Seawolves went on a small 5-0 run, but that small-run to take the lead would prove to hold up the rest of the game. The Seawolves would take a 34-26 lead into the locker room. The second half saw Sonoma State open up a 44-30 lead with 15:52 left. The Gators would put a scare into the Seawolves rolling off the next 11 points to reduce the lead to three, but the Seawolves would settle down and go home happy.

A statistic that paints a large part of the result is the Seawolves outscoring the Gators, 38-26 on points in the paint. The Seawolves outshot the Gators 44.8% (26-58) to 35.9% (23-64).  The Seawolves also won the rebounding category 42-33 and had a 16-10 advantage in assists.

In addition to Sourek's all-around great night, Taylor Acosta had 13 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Madison Burroughs chipped in 10 points, five rebounds and four assists. Molly Donovan scored 10 points on five rebounds.

San Francisco State was led in points by Leticia Galarza who had a game-high 21 points. Michelle Sutton had 14 points.

Sonoma State returns to action this Wednesday at 7 P.M. against Pacific Union at The Wolves' Den.
