Seawolves Breeze To A Pair Of Wins On Friday In Oakland

Spencer Trotta had a solid day on the court for the Seawolves on Friday.
OAKLAND, Calif. -- The Sonoma State women's tennis team pulled double duty on Friday, taking part in a pair of matches at Mills College in Oakland.  The Seawolves swept Notre Dame de Namur 9-0 in the morning before turning around and blanking Notre Dame de Namur 9-0 in the afternoon.  The victories lift the 32nd-ranked Seawolves to 9-4 on the season.

Friday's opener against the Argonauts was a one-sided affair as the Seawolves didn't drop a game to their opponents.  8-0 wins at the two doubles spots rolled into 6-0, 6-0 wins in singles.  Coach Lopez shuffled the lineup a bit and was rewarded by strong efforts from a lineup that had Kaitlyn Haithcock at No. 1, Sheena Johnson at 2, Lauren Ha at 3, Spencer Trotta at 4, Geri Richards at 5, and Karlee Budge earning a forfeit win at No. 6.

Sonoma State had a quick turnaround before taking on host Mills College, but it wouldn't faze the nationally-ranked squad as the Seawolves cruised to nine more perfect scores -- 8-0 in all three doubles matches and 6-0, 6-0 in all six singles matches -- to wrap up a flawless day of tennis.

The Seawolves will return home for a busy weekend of action as they host Hawaii-Hilo on Saturday and Eastern Washington on Sunday.  Match time is 1:00 pm, both days.
