WTEN: Seawolves Win 3 Straight Matches In Weekend Sweep

| BOX SCORE 3 Rohnert Park, CA - The Seawolves women's tennis spring campaign was in full swing this weekend as they competed in three matches this weekend including their home opener against the Penguins of Dominican University. They also took on Mills College and Holy Names in a round robin on Sunday afternoon where they swept both schools 7-0 and 5-2!

First year head coach Rafael Martinez had the recap for their match against Dominican. "Today's match was an excellent way to start the season. We knew that our first match in 10 years playing without Joaquin was going to be hard to go through. First home game, season opener, new coaching staff, without the leader that has been guiding us was a hell of a challenge. The Seawolves got off to a great start in the doubles matches with Sash Turchak and Amber Amber Huk winning 6-0. Senior Jenna DeTurk and transfer Tiani Jadulang followed up by clinching the doubles point for Sonoma. "This helped  us get an early lead on the penguins 1-0. Coach Matt and myself were really surprised by the level of intensity and tennis our team brought to the courts. It was amazing watching them compete."

The Seawolves started the signles off with two straight wins by Jadulang and DeTurk. However, freshman Sasha Turchak was the big performer for the Seawolves on the day clinching the macth against the Penguins as their #1 on the day. "It is not usual to see a freshman clinch the first match of the season, especially at position #1." Women's tennis would take the win 5-2 on the day as coach Martinez was incredibly proud of his group. "We are so happy with the improvement and growth we are seeing already in our team and we are really looking forward for what is coming during this season!"

The very next day the Seawolves would travel to Holy Names for two more matches against competitive teams in Mills College and conference rival Holy Names. They would sweep the day winning 7-0 and 5-2.
