ROHNERT PARK -- After dropping two doubles matches, the Sonoma State women's tennis team bounced back to win all six singles matches to defeat NCAA Division I Eastern Washington, 7-2, on Sunday afternoon at the SSU Tennis Courts in Rohnert Park.  The 32nd-ranked Seawolves earned their seventh straight victory to improve to 11-4 this season, including two wins over Division I opponents.  The Eagles, who are members of the Big Sky Conference, fell to 3-11.

Leire Martinez and Lauren Ha improved to 4-3 as doubles partners with an 8-4 triumph over Dani Young and Katrina Domingo, but the pairings of Sara Celma/Kaitlyn Haithcock and Sheena Johnson/Karlee Budge played tough matches before losing 9-7 and 8-6, respectively, to give Eastern Washington a 2-1 lead in the match.

However, Sonoma State came out on fire in singles play and earned five of the six wins in straight sets.  At No. 4 singles, Johnson shook off a 6-1 loss in her first set against Domingo, but rallied to take wins of 7-5 and 10-8 to secure a clean sweep in singles and clinch the overall match win.  Spencer Trotta also competed at the No. 7 spot in the lineup for SSU, defeating her opponent, Alyssa Nagai, 8-2.

Celma, the 10th-ranked player in Division II, won her 13th straight match and remains perfect on the year at 12-0 in dual competitions.  Martinez won her 12th straight singles match.

Sonoma State will host a pair of tough opponents next Friday and Saturday in No. 17 UC San Diego and No. 22 Cal State L.A. at the SSU Tennis Courts, both set for 11:00 am.
