Curtin, Marable Score Twice; Sonoma Blasts HNU In Home Debut

ROHNERT PARK -- Lauren Curtin and Marissa Marable each scored twice, Margi Osmundson found the net and the Sifuentes sisters -- Cecilia Sifuentes and Alex Sifuentes -- added their first collegiate goals as well, leading the Sonoma State women's soccer team to a 7-0 blowout of visiting Holy Names on Friday at the Seawolf Soccer Field.

The Seawolves, who are receiving votes in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division II Top 25 Poll, remain perfect on the year at 4-0-0 and have still yet to allow a goal through the first 378 minutes of the season, outscoring their opponents 11-0.  The Hawks fell to 0-3-0.

It took just four minutes for Marable to put Sonoma State in the lead for good before Curtin put in the first of two goals on the day just under eight minutes later.  With a 2-0 lead, Marable ended the first half with a bang, scoring her second goal of the day with just 26 seconds to go before halftime.

The Seawolves didn't stop there, scoring four more times in the final 45 minutes.  Osmundson went one-on-one with Holy Names goalkeeper Vanessa Amaral, faked  her one way, went the other and easily poked the ball into the net for the 4-0 lead at 55:34.  On a free kick just outside the box, Curtin blasted her attempt into the net at 60:11 for the 5-0 lead.  Four minutes later, at 64:22, C.Sifuentus converted a penalty kick, then A.Sifuentes headed in a cross from Anna Martin and Jori Wider to put the exclamation mark on the 7-0 win in the Seawolves' home debut.

In the end, Sonoma outshot Holy Names 27-5, including 14-1 in the first half.  SSU netminders Allison Hadidian and Ashley Luis combined on the shutout, each having to make one save.  Both Amaral and Jenni Dooly, who started in goal for the Hawks, made two saves.

Sonoma State continues its three-match homestand on Sunday when it hosts Cal State Monterey Bay in a non-conference game on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
