Women's Basketball Drops Eighth Straight Contest Saturday

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- Tanner Adams scored a team-high nine points and three others chipped in with eight points apiece, but the Sonoma State women's basketball team lost a 60-48 decision at Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday night at Coussoulis Arena in San Bernardino.

The Seawolves (6-12, 4-10 CCAA) have dropped eight straight games and sit in a three-way tie for eighth place in the conference standings with Chico State and Cal State Stanislaus.  The Coyotes remain in fourth place in the CCAA, rising to 14-4 overall and 10-4 in league play.

Sonoma State never led in the ballgame, though it would remain within striking distance for much of the first half -- the Seawolves never trailed by more than seven points in the first 20 minutes with the largest deficit coming at the half, trailing 25-18 heading into the locker room.

Out of the intermission, host Cal State San Bernardino scored five unanswered points, starting what would be an 11-2 run to take a 16-point advantage (36-20) at the 15-minute mark of the second half, the largest CSUSB lead of the evening.  The Seawolves slowly chipped away at the deficit, coming to within nine points a several occasions, but it wouldn't be enough as the Coyotes held on for the 12-point triumph.

Adams scored all nine of her points from beyond the three-point arc to lead SSU on offense.  Hannah Sourek, Madison Burroughs and Emilee Osagiede each had eight points.  Osagiede also grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds, a new career-high.

Cal State San Bernardino's Alexcia Mack tied a career-high with 24 points on Saturday to lead all players in that category.

Sonoma State returns to action on Friday at Cal State East Bay at 5:30 pm.
