LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Fueled by the explosive bats of
Taylor Batey and
Holli Brown, the Sonoma State softball team earned a pair of blowout victories on Saturday at the MSUB Desert Stinger, racing past Northwest Nazarene 15-4 before throttling Saint Martin's 14-6, both in five innings. Batey was a perfect 5 for 5 at the plate with three home runs, seven RBI and four runs scored while Brown went 4 for 6 with a double, two home runs (one a grand slam), eight RBI and five runs scored.
The Seawolves, after being swept by Hawaii Hilo at home during the week, have gone 4-0 the last two days in Las Vegas, including an upset win on Friday over 23rd-ranked California Baptist, to improve to 5-2 this season.
Sonoma State will play one more game in the MSUB Desert Stinger, facing off with Regis University (Colo.) at 11:30 am on Sunday.
