ROHNERT PARK -- The Sonoma State women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 victory over visiting UC Santa Cruz on Saturday to improve to 4-3 this season.
Jacquelyn Ward didn't allow a point to be scored by her opponent at No. 5 singles after teaming up with
Leire Martinez at No. 1 doubles for an 8-4 win.
Leire Martinez got off to a slow start in the first set, but rallied for the 7-5, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles. All other Seawolves swept past their opponents with ease for the 9-0 shutout.
Sonoma State will continue its five-game homestand with a Thursday matchup with Notre Dame de Namur at the SSU Tennis Courts. First serve is set for 11:00 am.
