TURLOCK, Calif. -- Alison Strycula broke a 2-2 tie with a two-run home run to straight away center field in the third inning and
Carlie Daniel brought home two runs in the fifth to induce the eight-run mercy rule and complete the 11-3 victory for the Sonoma State softball team over Dominican on Sunday morning at Pedretti Sports Complex in Turlock.
The victory places the 21st-ranked Seawolves (27-9) into the Platinum Bracket final of the 14th Annual Tournament of Champions against CCAA-foe Cal State Dominguez Hills at 2:30 pm.

Sonoma State is now 53-30 in the annual Tournament of Champions and will be going for its second Platinum Bracket title -- the Seawolves first won it back in 2012. For updated results and statistics from all 76 games in the three-day event can be found at the official tournament web site at

After falling behind 2-0 early to Dominican, Sonoma put four runs on the board in the bottom of the third inning, capped off by Strycula's second-career home run and her first of the season. Dominican cut its deficit in half in the top of the fourth on a solo home run by Ashlyn Moriarity, but Daniel and Strycula recorded RBI's in the fourth to put Sonoma State up 6-3. In the fifth,

Keeley Ray followed with a two-run single, then Daniel ended the game with a two-run single up the middle.
Amanda Llerena (16-6) worked the first four innings to earn the victory. She allowed three runs (one earned) on four hits and one walk, striking out three.
Mayleen Mazon came on in relief in the fifth and earned her first save of the season for her one inning of shutout work. Daniel, Strycula,
