ROHNERT PARK, Calif. -- The Sonoma State women's tennis team closed out the home portion of their schedule with a commanding 8-1 win over Cal State Stanislaus on a sunny Sunday afternoon in Rohnert Park. Prior to the match, the Seawolves honored their lone senior,
Leire Martinez, in her final competitive match at Seawolf Courts in a marvelous two-year career. The win was the 10th in 11 home matches this season for SSU as the 24th-ranked Seawolves won their sixth straight and upped their record to 14-6 on the year.
Martinez, one of the most successful players in school history, did what she does best, earning wins in both doubles and singles to set the tone for a successful day on the courts. Martinez, ranked 47th in the latest ITA national singles rankings, won handily in both doubles (8-4) and singles (6-3, 6-1). She improves her career record to 35-8 in singles.
The Seawolves won all three points in doubles, then cruised through singles with five wins. Including Martinez, the Seawolves picked up points from

Karlee Budge (#4),
Julie Rea (#5), and
Hillary Fazekas (#6).
Sonoma State's next match is on Friday at UC Davis.
