RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- Despite having a 17-8 advantage in shot attempts, the Sonoma State women's soccer team was forced into a scoreless tie with host California Baptist on Thursday in Riverside. The Seawolves move to 1-1-1 this season while the Lancers of the Pacific West Conference remain winless at 0-2-1.
The Seawolves outshot the Lancers 17-5 through the first 100 minutes of play, but CBU put the pressure on the SSU backline in the second overtime, firing three shots, two of which were right at Seawolf keeper
Ashley Luis. Luis made three saves in total.
Allison Hadidian nearly broke the tie just before the half, but her attempt banged off the crossbar. Of Sonoma's 17 shots, five were on goal, but saved by CBU netminder Sara Escobedo.
Sonoma State returns to action on Saturday at Point Loma. Kickoff is set for 2:00 pm.
