ROHNERT PARK -- Four Sonoma State women's basketball players scored in double figures as the hosts sprinted out to a significant lead early, one it wouldn't relinquish, in a convincing 60-47 victory over Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday night at The Wolves' Den.
The Seawolves improve to 8-11 overall and 3-7 in the CCAA. The Otters sunk to 7-10 (3-7 CCAA).
Sonoma scored 14 of the game's first 16 points, taking a 16-2 lead just seven and a half minutes into the contest. Cal State Monterey Bay eventually got to within 10 points after a 3-pointer by Victoria Dorn early in the second half, but that's as close as the visitors would get the rest of the way.
Hannah Sourek scored a team-best 13 points while
Madison Burroughs had 12,
Carly Gill with 11 and
Jerrica Crosby adding 10. Gill added four assists and three steals in 31 minutes. The Seawolves shot 39.6 perent from the floor on 21 of 53 while holding the Otters to 33.3 percent (17 of 51).
Sonoma State returns to the court Saturday at home against Cal State East Bay. Tipoff is set for 5:30 pm.
