FRESNO, Calif. -- Daniel Theobald broke the scoreless tie late in the first half and
Maury Lopez added an important insurance goal early in the second half as the Sonoma State men's soccer team continued to roll with a 2-1 non-conference victory over host Fresno Pacific Wednesday night at Ramirez Field in Fresno.
The Seawolves haven't lost a game in their last five games and have a record of 4-0-1 in that span. The win tonight improves the Sonoma's overall record to 5-2-4 while the Sunbirds fall to 3-5-1.

Following halftime the Seawolves came out and had an early opportunity in the second half. In the 49th minute Lopez scored the second goal of the game on a 3-on-2 break away. His goal was assisted by
Gabriel D'Ambrosio and Alex Cucuk. Sonoma would hold on to this 2-0 lead until the final minute when FSU's Jorge Chedraui would score off a steal in the 89th minute for his 5th goal of the season.

Mitch North had a big game by getting six saves on the day, FSU's Matias Fernandez would got three saves in the loss.
Gabriel D'Ambrosio and
Maury Lopez both led the Seawolves with three shots each, with two on goal.
Sonoma State has the weekend off but will return home next week to face CCAA opponent Cal State Monterey Bay on Oct. 14. Kickoff is set for 12:30 pm
Quotes from SSU Head Coach Marcus Ziemer:
"We played great and controlled most of the game. I was disappointed that we lost our focus in the last minute and gave up a goal."
"We could've scored two or three more goals, but their keeper made several great saves."
"Our buildup and possession was great. They mixed up their pressure on us and we were able to adjust on the fly and keep the ball moving."
"Fresno Pacific is organized and well coached and so that is a great result, especially on the road. We are playing well, but we are a little banged up. We don't play again until October 14 at home against Cal State Monterey Bay so it will be good to have a couple of days off and let the guys recover."
