ROHNERT PARK, Calif. --  Despite building up a 16-point halftime lead, the Sonoma State women's basketball team fell to Cal Poly Pomona 50-48 in CCAA action at The Wolves' Den on Friday night.  It was the best of times and the worst of times for the Seawolves as an outstanding first half was undone by a ice-cold second half, allowing the Broncos to steal a two-point win.
The loss drops the Seawolves to 8-15 overall and 3-11 in CCAA play.  They are now two games back of eighth place in the race for a CCAA Tournament berth.  The Broncos improve to 8-13, 6-8 CCAA.
The Seawolves were fantastic on both sides of the ball in the first half, shooting 50% and holding the Broncos to a 5-of-22 clip.  Senior
Hannah Sourek led the way with 12 points in the first 20 minutes as Sonoma built a 34-18 lead before the Broncos got a bucket to make it 34-20 at the break.
The second half, however, was a different story as the Seawolves shot just 15% (4-of-26) from the field.
As bad as SSU's shooting was, they still led by 11 points at 43-32 with under three minutes to go in the third quarter.  From that point on, the Broncos would go on an 18-5 run.
Kylie Kiech led the Seawolves with 13 points in the game while Sourek had 12.
Madison Burroughs neared a double-double with ten points and eight rebounds.
Mary Williams was the only Bronco in double figures, finishing the night with ten points.
The Seawolves will be back in action on Saturday when they host Humboldt State as part of Pack the Den Night.  Tipoff is set for 5:30 pm.
