ROHNERT PARK -- Ronnie Harris scored a team-high 14 points and dished out three assists, but the Sonoma State men's basketball team went cold midway through the second half, held without a field goal for more than eight minutes amidst a 17-0 run by visiting Humboldt State that put the game out of reach in Friday's 67-51 loss on Pack Half The Den Night in Rohnert Park on Saturday.
The Seawolves fell to 12-9 overall and 7-8 in the CCAA while the Lumberjacks jumped to 15-6 and 9-6 against conference foes.
James Davis gave the hosts a three-point lead (40-37) on a made free throw at the 14:16 mark in the second half, but Humboldt scored 17 unanswered points in the middle of a 25-4 run over a span of nine minutes to put the 'Jacks up 62-44 with 4:57 remaining in the contest, too much for Sonoma to overcome in the final minutes.
At the half, SSU led 24-20 after holding HSU to just 6 for 27 (22.2 percent) from the floor. However, the Lumberjacks came out of the halftime break on fire, connecting on 16 of 26 shots (61.5 percent), including 8 of 11 from downtown to seal the deal.
Complementing Harris' 14 points was
David Ahern with nine and
Luke Cochran with seven.
Humboldt's Rakim Brown torched Sonoma for 27 points on 11 of 16 shooting, including 4 of 6 from three-point land, and bringing down a game-high 16 rebounds.
Sonoma State will return to action on Tuesday night when it hosts San Francisco State at 7:30 pm.
