AZUSA, Calif. -- Despite playing a man down for the final 45 minutes, of which included two 10-minute overtimes, the Sonoma State men's soccer team forced host Azusa Pacific into a scoreless draw Saturday night at the Cougar Soccer Complex in Azusa. It is the third tie in four games for the Seawolves (0-1-3) to start the year, and the second of the scoreless variety.
Sonoma State had a competitive first half where they maintained tempo with the Cougars; both teams had four shots.
In the second half,
Andrew Ogilvy would receive his second yellow card of the game in the 65th minute. Sonoma State was outshot 10-3 after Ogilvy went out (16-7 in the contest), but the Seawolf defense came up big, including the play of
Mitch North, who stopped a season-high nine shots.
Armando Coronel would lead the way for the Seawolves with three shots, two on goal.
Azusa Pacific was led by Callum Wallace who had five shots, three on goal.
Sonoma State returns home on Friday against Cal Poly Pomona to open CCAA action. Kickoff is set for 3 pm at the Seawolf Soccer Field.
