Seawolves Beat Cal State East Bay, Improve to 2-0 in CCAA

HAYWARD, Calif. - Sonoma State University defeated Cal State East Bay in four sets 25-23, 21-25, 25-17, 25-17 and improved to 2-0 in the CCAA.  The Seawolves will face Cal State Monterey Bay in the Kelp Bed tomorrow night September 24 at 7pm.

For the first set, the Seawolves got ahead and stayed ahead, the score only tieing twice the entire set. However, the Pioneers got ahead early in the second set 5-0 in large thanks to three consecutive service aces. The Seawolves battled back to 11 all. From there the game was back and forth until 18-19 when two East Bay kills, a service ace, and a Seawolf error put enough separation between the scores to secure Sonoma's defeat.

For the third and fourth sets, Seawolves dominated. There were only two lead changes in the third set and none in the fourth. Though the Seawolves had a late scare towards the end of the set due to some attack errors, they still prevailed by 8 points.

Courtney Seda had a big night accumulating 45 assists on the team's 59 kills. Rachel Andrews (15), Tate Battistini (14), and Caiti Wiesner (10) lead Sonoma's offense and libero Megan Bohorquez had 31 digs on the night.
