ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – The #25 California Baptist University Lancers (5-0) defeated the Sonoma State University Seawolves (2-2) in their debut match at the DII West Region Showcase 25-23, 17-25, 19-25, 15-25.
The Seawolves will continue in their home tournament tomorrow against Western Washington University at 10am in The Wolves' Den.
The first set was almost perfectly point for point, in total, the score would come even 16 times during the set. The Seawolves went on a four point run at 4-4 to get ahead, but were later answered by a five point run from the Lancers at 5-10 to bring the score 10 all. The Seawolves pushed for the win at 22 all to win 23-25. The victory came in large part from a .405 team hitting percentage and service aces by
Megan Bohorquez and
Rachel Andrews.
For the remainder of the match, the Lancers' offensive attacks and tough block were too much for the Seawolves. California Baptist delivered 58 kills on 130 attempts and averaged a .331 hitting percentage for the match. Lauren Hackett and Jenna Perry combined for 38 of those kills.

Rachel Andrews were held to 26 kills combined, but contributed 31 points to the team. Andrews had a .538 hitting percentage, and Anala a .474.
