POMONA, Calif. – In a match that had to be decided in double overtime, Sonoma State suffered just their second loss of the season to #25 Cal Poly Pomona on Sunday afternoon.
The teams battled back and forth and stayed scoreless through regulation, with the Seawolves being the more aggressive of the two teams—taking 13 shots to the Broncos' 10—in the first 90 minutes. However, the Broncos pushed SSU on their back foot during the overtime periods, and finally netted the game-winner after 102 minutes.
Cal Poly's Tasha Inong teamed up with Amanda Duran and sunk her first goal of the year for the Broncos, making the Pomona side walk-off winners, 1-0.
With the loss, Sonoma State falls to 12-2-0 and 6-2-0 in conference play and will return home on Friday to host Cal State San Marcos at Seawolf Soccer Field at 12:30pm PT.
