ROHNERT PARK -- Four Sonoma State women's basketball players scored in double-figures, led by the 14 points off the bench from
Ugochi Anudokem as the Seawolves cruised past Holy Names 78-46 Tuesday night at The Wolves' Den in Rohnert Park. The Seawolves improve to 2-1 on the year while the Hawks fell to 0-3.
Jerrica Crosby and
Madison Burroughs opened the scoring for SSU, giving the hosts a 4-0 lead before Holy Names got on the board to cut the lead in half three minutes in, but from the 6:53 mark on, Sonoma would go on a 37-8 run over the next 19 minutes of game play, including an 18-0 run to close out the first quarter, to take a 41-10 lead early in the third quarter.
The Hawks were able to find their wings, however, as they went on a 17-6 run in the third period to get within 20 points at 47-27, but that would be as close as they would get before SSU finally settled for the 32-point victory.
Anudokem had the aforementioned 14 points to go along with five rebounds in 12 minutes of action,
Sam Erisman and
Madison Burroughs each dropped in 13 points, and
Molly Donovan added 11 points in her 14 minutes of work off the bench. In fact, the Seawolf bench outscored the Hawks bench 48-12 in the contest. Sonoma also dominated the paint, scoring 44 of their 78 points down low. In comparison, Holy Names scored just six points from right underneath the hoop.
The Seawolves connected on half of their 62 shots while holding the visitors to just 25 percent from the floor (15 of 60).
Sonoma State won't return to action until conference play opens up at Cal State Monterey Bay on November 25th with a 5:30 pm tip off in Seaside.
