ARCATA, Calif. – With Thursday night's victory over Humboldt State, Sonoma State women's basketball has the most wins since 2008. Their record rises to 12-13 overall and 9-10 in CCAA while the Jack's falls 7-19 overall and 6-13 in conference.
Once again, the Seawolves made their free-throws count; scoring 15 for 20 at the line and 18 of those shots were taken in the second half. They also scored big on their opponent's turnovers, 24 points to be exact.
Madison Burroughs contributed to the turnover count by tallying six steals the new high for this season.

Jessica Mitz 12 were the leading scorers for the game. Kiech pulled down the team high six rebounds and Gill followed with five, then Burroughs with 4.
Though Sonoma was down 13-20 after the first quarter, they dominated the rest of the game. The second quarter saw the Seawolves score 12 and the Jacks held to only three points. Burroughs was 4 for 7 from the field. By 5:06 in the second quarter the score was tied at 22 all and a free-throw from Keich, a layup from
Taylor Todd put Sonoma ahead by three going into halftime.
The second half is where the Seawolves went off. Kiech scored 12 points and was 7 for 8 at the charity stripe. Mitz scored eight points shooting 3 for 4 in the field. Burroughs had four steals and Sonoma shot 55 percent from the field and 77 percent at the line.
Halfway through the third quarter, Sonoma had a 14 point lead after going on a 12-0 run. However, in the opening minutes of the final quarter, the Jacks closed to within four of Sonoma. Mitz scored a pair of free-throws and Burroughs stole the ball and made a fast break layup. Humboldt knocked down a three pointer and a two layups and were once again on the Seawolves' heels, this time by one point 46-45.
At the 4:25 mark, Kiech scored a trey, next Gill and Mitz had jumpers, a 7-2 run and all the Seawolves needed to do was make their lay-ups in the last minute to win the game.
Saturday February 25, Sonoma State heads to Pomona to play Cal Poly at 5:30pm.
