LA JOLLA, Calif. – Sonoma State's season ended Tuesday night in a 53-46 loss to UC San Diego. The Seawolves end their season 13-14 overall, the best record since the 2007-2008 season.
Leading Sonoma in scoring was
Carly Gill with 17 points, nailing three from behind the arch. Next was
Madison Burroughs with 14 points.
Taylor Todd (8), Gill (7), and Burroughs (6) lead in rebounds.
UC San Diego jumped ahead in the first quarter and outscored the Seawolves 20-10. Sonoma was able to hold them to 12 in the next, however, only scored seven of their own points.
In the second half, the Seawolves outscored the Tritons 21-18. Gill was 2 for 3 behind the arch and Burroughs was 5 for 8 in the field. Sonoma also pulled down seven offensive rebounds, and held their opponent to one.
Sonoma didn't go quietly. Though down by nineteen to start the third quarter, the Seawolves pulled within ten of the Tritons.
Twice in the fourth quarter, Sonoma was able to get within four points of their opponent during the final three minutes of the game, once from a trey by Gill, and the other by two free-throws by Burroughs.
