Softball Blasts Toros For Tuesday Sweep In Carson

CARSON, Calif. -- The Sonoma State softball team pounded out 16 runs on 16 hits as it cruised to a doubleheader sweep of host Cal State Dominguez Hills Tuesday afternoon in Carson with scores of 6-2 in game one and 10-3 in game two.  The Seawolves rise to 14-7 overall and 9-5 in the CCAA.  The Toros stumbled to 1-22 (0-18 CCAA).

Offensively, Alison Strycula and Karly Macadangdang each had three hits in the two games combined; all three of Macadangdang's hits were for extra bases (two doubles and a triple).  Lindsey Calcany Blair had two hits, both doubles, and Jordann White, Jenn Amaral and Madison Barto all hit home runs; Barto's home run was the first of her career, a pinch-hit three run bomb in the sixth inning of game two.

In the pitching circle, Brielle Vidmar (5-2) and Teresa Danenberg (2-2) both earned victories and Gabby Dupree was credited with her first save of the season after working the final three innings of game one.  As a group, the Seawolf pitching staff, which included all four pitchers on the roster -- Vidmar, Danenberg, Dupree and Brigid Ruiz -- allowed 14 hits, five runs (three earned) and five walks while striking out 15.  Vidmar led the team with six strikeouts in her four innings of work to get the day started for Sonoma.

The Seawolves and Toros will wrap up their four-game series Wednesday with a doubleheader that again starts at 1:00 pm.
