ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – Sonoma State opened its four-game home series against Cal State East Bay by just coming up short and losing 7-6. The Pioneers rise to 22-12 overall and 13-9 in CCAA play and the Seawolves fall 17-14 overall and 13-12 in conference.
The Seawolves came back from being down 3-0 in the fourth inning off of a
Trevor Abrams RBI double and then scored two from a double RBI single by
Nathan Mann. Next the Seawolves gained the lead in the fifth inning as
Grant St. Martin was walked with the bases loaded. The next time the Seawolves scored that inning, the Pioneers turned the double play but
Daniel Caresio made it home to put Sonoma ahead 5-4. Unfortunately, Cal State East Bay scored twice in the sixth and the Seawolves last effort to come back wasn't enough and they lost 7-6.
Caresio, who leads the CCAA in on-base-percentage, was 2 for 5 with two runs scored.
Mitch West and
Jake Sahagian were 2 for 4 with an RBI each. Mann lead the team with two RBI's.
The Seawolves continue their four game home series against the Pioneers tomorrow, April 14, with a doubleheader. Game times are scheduled for 12noon and 3:00pm at Seawolf Diamond.
