Seawolves Split with Pioneers in Day Two of Home Series

ROHNERT PARK, Calif. - Sonoma State and Cal State East Bay split day two of their three-day conference series. The Seawolves won game one 7-1 and the Pioneers won game two 6-5. Sonoma's record is now 18-15 overall and 14-13 in conference, CSU East Bay is now 23-13 overall and 14-10 in CCAA.

Game 1:
Cody Bennett was the winning pitcher in game one. He pitched three innings with two hits and no earned runs.

Seawolf bats went to work as Trevor Abrams, Bryce Nagata, Jake Sahagian, and Nicco Toni all claimed doubles and Grant St. Martin earned his fifth homer of the season. Nagata stole two bases and currently leads Sonoma in stolen bases, Nathan Mann also stole a base.

Mitch West was 2 for 4 with one run, St. Martin had two RBI's from his home run, Nagata was 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored, Mann was 2 for 3 with three RBI's and one scored run. Sahagian and Toni were both 2 for 4.

Sonoma scored once in the second inning off of Mann's sacrifice fly to bring in Nagata for an unearned run. In the sixth inning, St. Martin homered and Mann had an RBI single to bring West home. In the third the Seawolves scored three times; another Mann RBI single to bring in Jackson Leslie who was pinch running for St. Martin, Nagata stole home, and Sahagian doubled to left center and Mann came home.

Game 2:
Though the game was only seven innings, it was packed with action.

Sonoma State was up 5-1 until the sixth inning where the Pioneers scored five runs to just edge out the Seawolves.

Again, the Seawolves showed strength at the plate, Joshua Montelongo rocketed the ball to left center for a home run, and Daniel Caresio, Mann, and Montelongo all had doubles.

Trevor Abrams was 2 for 4 with one run scored and Montelongo was 2 for 3 with three RBI's thanks to his homer in the fifth inning.

Sonoma was up first 2-0 when St. Martin and Caresio scored in the first inning off of Mann's double to right center and the next and last time they scored was in the fifth via Montelongo's homer.

The four game series concludes tomorrow, April 15, with a single game starting at 12 Noon at Seawolf Diamond.
