Ogilvy, Barragan lead Seawolves to 3-0 win over Pioneers

HAYWARD Calif. - Thanks to a first-half brace by Andrew Ogilvy, as well as Marco Barragan's first goal of the season, the Sonoma State Seawolves cruised to a 3-0 victory over the Cal State East Bay Pioneers for their second CCAA win of the season.

Ogilvy opened the scoring in the eighth minute of the match when he followed up on a shot by Josh Sanchez. Sanchez booted the ball past the goalkeeper, where Ogilvy was able to follow through and slot it to the right corner.

The 1-0 lead stood till the 31st minute when Ogilvy doubled up the Pioneers. After a few passes by TJ Perez and Evan Roehrig, Ogilvy received the ball where he dribbled in the box, turned and scored his second of the game.

The Seawolves entered the half at 2-0 and held the score until the final minutes of the match, when Marco Barragan notched a goal as well. The junior forward beat an East Bay defender before laying off the shot and pushing the lead to three.

Mitch North was lights out in the match, earning his second straight clean sheet of the season.

With the win the Seawolves improve to 4-2-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play, and will return home to to host Holy Names in a non-conference match September 21 at 4pm PT.

Quotes from Head Coach Marcus Ziemer:

"We played really well today. We kept the ball moving and created a lot of chances. Scoring early help because it took the pressure off and forced them to come out a bit. Our depth really pays off with two games in a weekend. We are able to keep the pressure up and the pace high.

"Andrew Ogilvy was out with a concussion and it's good to have him back in form. He scored two nice goals today and almost had a hat trick.

"Our defense was outstanding. Mitch North does a good job of organizing the guys in front of him and Devin Anderson, Luke La Vanway, Eric Alvarado and Jonny Blake were solid and Marcus Salvador did a good job of sitting in front of the backs and cleaning things up.

"We will take a day off tomorrow and then get ready for a tough nonconference game against Holy Names on Thursday before traveling up to Humboldt for our third CCAA contest on Sunday."
