AZUSA, Calif. – Sonoma traveled down to Southern California to the campus of Azusa Pacific University to compete in the ITA West Regional championships this past weekend.Â

For the fourth consecutive year No. 1 seed Senior
Jensyn Warren competed in 11 matches in 3 days to advance to the final match of singles and doubles. This season Warren competed in the singles and doubles final. Warren beat Sierra Schackelford (Dominican University) 6-1, 6-0 in the opening round, drew a 6-0, 6-4 win in the round of 16 over April Wong (Azusa Pacific), in the quarterfinals Warren topped Paula Alcantara (Academy of Art) 6-3, 6-0. Clarisa Colling (SSU) 6-2, 6-0 in the semi-finals. Warren faced No. 3 seed Monika Stanikova of (Academy of Art) where she fell short (6-4, 7-5).
The duo of Warren and
Jenna DeTurk faced the No. 1 seed Alma and Klara Thell-Lenntorp of Academy of Art in the championship match where they were beaten 8-6. The No. 3 seed of Warren and Deturk defeated the pairing of Sierra Schackelford and Nicole Bermudez from (DU) 8-0, to advance to the round of 16 Warren and DeTurk downed Chelsey Ruiz and Berta Acero of Cal State LA, 8-5. Warren and DeTurk beat Petra Ivankovic and Savchenko of Azusa Pacific 8-7(3) in the quarterfinals. The Seawolves won 8-1 against Monika Stanikova and Paula Alcantara (AA).

The winners of singles and doubles will move on to the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships will take place November 7-11, 2018, at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex in Surprise, Arizona.
According to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, the ITA Regional Championships feature some of the top men's and women's players across the country. Over 8,000 student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, Junior and Community Colleges compete across 85 USTA/ITA Regional Championships around the country.Â

The Oracle ITA National Fall Championships features 128 of the nation's top collegiate singles players (64 men and 64 women) and 64 doubles teams (32 men's team and 32 women's teams). In its second year, having replaced the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, it is the lone event on the collegiate tennis calendar to feature competitors from all five divisions playing in the same tournament.
