Seawolves Blanked By Coyotes Sunday

ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – A goal in each half from the visiting Cal State San Bernardino amounted to a 2-0 final as the visiting Coyotes beat Sonoma State from Seawolf Soccer Field Sunday afternoon.

Kicked off by a first-half penalty kick, the Coyotes found the game's first lead just past the 21st minute as a tackle inside the box resulted in a penalty kick awarding to San Bernardino. Danny Ortiz lined up the ball on the spot and took a shot to the right that resulted in a fantastic save by keeper Arturo Ornelas. Despite the diving denial, the ball trickled back out to Ortiz who then sent the ball the other way and slotted it home for the game's first goal.

After returning from the lockers at the half, CSUSB quickly doubled up the score. Danny Ortiz laid off a ball to Peter Arellano who then dribbled into the box and found his first goal of the season.

The score would stand through the final 42 minutes of play as the Seawolves suffer the weekend sweep at home. With the loss, they are now 2-7-3 and 0-6-2 in CCAA play. Sonoma State returns to action Friday evening as they travel to Chico State to take on the Wildcats. Kickoff is slated for 4:30 p.m. at University Soccer Stadium.
