SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Sonoma State opened its 2018-19 campaign Friday evening at the San Francisco Tipoff Classic against non-conference opponent Dominican University.

In thrilling fashion, the Seawolves came back from a 34-30 deficit in the first half to outscore the penguins in the remainder of regulation to force a season-opening overtime.

Sonoma State fought its way back from a 26-12 setback to a four-point difference at halftime.

Led by junior Isaac Davidsons 18 points in the first half, going 4-for-4 at the three-point line and downing both of his free-throws Davidson scored nearly a third of the Seawolves early points.

The Seawolves came back from halftime to tie the game 36-36 within the first two minutes. Off to a quick start with five of the first six points of the half, to claim its first lead of the game 39-36.

Down 65-63 with less than three minutes left in regulation, the Seawolves downed three free throws, and a jumper from Jordan Hickman to tie the game 68-68 with 30 seconds remaining. Penguins took a brief 69-68 lead, answered by Wesley Gilberts free throw in the final 3 seconds of the second half.

Davidson added two free throws to his arsenal early in overtime to level the field 71-71 and round out his 32-point night. A career single-game high for Davidson.

The Seawolves momentum came to a halt as they fell 79-71 to the Penguins in overtime.
