SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- Ugochi Anudokem poured in 20 points and corralled 12 rebounds as the Sonoma State women's basketball team snuck past host Cal State San Bernardino Saturday night, 53-51, to boost its 2017-18 playoff hopes heading into the final weekend of the regular season next Friday and Saturday at home in The Wolves' Den.
The Seawolves (11-13, 8-12 CCAA) currently sit one-half game behind the Coyotes (11-14, 9-12 CCAA) for the eighth and final spot in the CCAA Championship Tournament in two weeks. Sonoma will need to win its final two regular season games (Friday vs Humboldt State and Saturday vs Chico State, both at home) and Cal State San Bernardino will need to lose its final regular season game next Saturday at Cal Poly Pomona in order for SSU to qualify for the CCAA tournament for the second straight year.
Anudokem was the only Seawolf in double-figures Saturday night, in both points and rebounds, to lead all players.
Jessica Mitz and
Serena Santos each chipped in with nine tallies each.
Sonoma State will return home Friday and Saturday to take on Humboldt State and Chico State, respectively. Tipoff is set for 5:30 pm both nights.
