Seawolves Crack Skid With Emphatic 100-Point Victory

ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – Sonoma State crushed a seven-game skid in style Friday night, as the Seawolves cracked the century mark for just the second time this season, defeating Humboldt State 101-83 from the Wolves' Den.

Junior Armani Nicolis, who secured his second double-double of the season and led the team with 21 points, joined Isaac Davidson, Jordan Hickman, Jackson Gion and Lewayne Grant who each contributed double-digit performances in the game for the Seawolves.

"It felt great moving the ball and playing like a team," noted Nicolis after the game. "I felt like we really played together as a unit, and moving the ball like that just makes the game fun. I think we really just played our hearts out."

The Seawolves struggled to get out the gate in the opening minutes of the game and found themselves down by nine at the 16:02 mark of the first half. However, over the next 3:12, Sonoma State took off on a 13-3 run grabbing their first lead and never looked back.

Lewayne Grant and Jackson Gion each contributed nine points over the first half's remaining 13:04, as the Seawolves outscored their opponent 33-10, opening up a 21-point lead by halftime.

After the break Sonoma State kept on trucking. 11 points from Nicolis, seven from Davidson and six from Gion pushed the Seawolves to their largest lead of the night, 77-44 with 13:19 remaining in the game.

The Lumberjacks showed signs of life in the next 5:05, as they cut their deficit to 17 with a pair of seven-straight and eight-straight points scored but the Seawolves held on for the final eight minutes, wrapping up the win, 101-83.

Despite their elimination from CCAA playoff contention, Nicolis affirms that his team will be on their a-game tomorrow for senior night against Chico State.

"Oh, we've got to win. No matter what. It doesn't matter if we're going to the playoffs or not, we've got to beat Chico and finish our season on a win."

Sonoma State's tipoff with the Wildcats is slated for 7:30pm.
