Double-Digit Quartet Denied Win By Cougars

ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – Despite double-digit efforts from four different Seawolves, Sonoma State lost their stride in the second half of Saturday night's game with Cal State San Marcos falling to the Cougars 85-72 in the Wolves' Den. With the loss the Seawolves move to 9-12 overall and 7-10 in CCAA play. San Marcos improves to 17-4 and 12-3 in league play.

Sonoma State put together a strong first half, led by Isaac Davidson and Armani Nicolis, and found themselves able to build a ten-point lead within the first 5:31 of the game. San Marcos tried to shoot their way back into the game from beyond the arc but only found themselves able to shoot 33.3 percent from the field and 27.3 from three-point range. The Seawolves capitalized on the inaccuracy of their opponent, shooting over 51 percent from the field and making four of seven from range. The hosts racked up 16 points in the paint to their opponent's six and found themselves with a nine-point lead at halftime.

Davidson, who would go on to a 19-point performance, swished a three to start the second half opening up 37-25 lead, which proved to be the Seawolves' biggest of the game. However, in the following minutes, the Cougars raced back into the game. Between 16:16 and 12:58 San Marcos found their stride and put together a 13-0 run, to take a three-point lead.

The teams exchanged the lead six times over the next seven minutes before the Cougars took off. The visitors would go on to shoot at a 66.7 percent clip through the second half and make four of five threes to build a 13-point margin between themselves and their host by the end of the game.

The Seawolves return to action next Saturday as they travel to San Francisco State for a 7:30pm tipoff with the Gators.
