SURPRISE, Ariz. -- On Thursday afternoon the fifth seeded Sonoma State Men's Tennis team played its opening round against the fourth seeded Concordia (CA) Eagles. The Seawolves played the match until the ninth and final match and lost 5-4. Sonoma State moves to 13-6 while the Eagles move to 8-11.
The Seawolves found themselves up early in the match when they took a 2-1 lead after the doubles matches.

Sean Alves defeated Florian Mayer/Daniel Reddman in the doubles one match (8-1).
Max Nudell and
Alec Wong were also victorious in the doubles three match when they defeated Thomas Kyle and Man Hon Ko (8-6).
In singles match play, the Seawolves needed three wins to clinch the match, however they only got two victories.
Sean Alves defeated Joseph Bray in the singles two match (4-6, 6-4, 6-4).
Max Nudell was also victorious defeating Daniel Reddmann in the singles four match (6-3, 6-1). After the completion of five singles matches the Seawolves and Eagles were tied at 4-4 with the match coming down to the singles one match. Unfortunately for the Seawolves #52
Nate Oppenheim couldn't seal the victory and fell to Florian Mayer in a competitive match (7-5, 6-7 (0-7), 6-4).
With the loss, the Seawolves will compete in the consolation bracket and will face eight seeded Biola tomorrow at 1:30 pm. Â
